About Us

Black Lives Matter Lake County, IL is a 501(c) 3 dedicated to challenging police brutality in any form, racial inequality and systemic racism in Lake County, IL. We have been active in the struggle for justice since 2015.  Along with our work for justice we have led marches and protest, sponsored community awards banquets, community forums on racism and police accountability, back to school events, outings for youth and families, holiday giveaways, and many other community activities. Our social media pages have 6,000 followers nationwide. We were instrumental in getting over 40 non -violent offenders released from  jail due to COVID-19, as well as passing out over 500 mask to the elderly. 

Black Lives Matter Lake County, IL centers around work against racist policing and police violence, wrongful convictions mass incarceration, and economic disparities. Our protest and rallies are non-violent and we feel change is possible through sustained peaceful means.

BLM - Lake County supports the development of new Black leaders, as well as create a network where Black people feel empowered to determine our destinies in our communities.
